WorkFirst Community Jobs Partners Needed Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) has begun offering employment and training services in both Clallam and Jefferson Counties. One of the programs they offer is the WorkFirst Community Jobs program for parents who are on TANF and referred by their DSHS worker. OlyCAP helps these parents find subsidized employment at various non-profit, government and tribal sites. Participants are referred for either paid or unpaid work experience. If it’s a paid component, OlyCAP pays the participant minimum wage for 20 hours a week, for up to 6 months. If it’s an unpaid employment, it’s a 5-35 hour a week placement, depending on participation requirement, for up to a year. OlyCAP can also work with for-profit employers if they agree to hire the person after the training period of 256 hours.
OlyCAP is in need of placement sites for their participants. If anyone needs help at their worksite, has supervision and “real work” for a participant to do, will help teach hard and soft skills, provide flexibility for participants to work on other areas or barriers they are trying to overcome, and help participants gain a local work experience to add to their resume, please contact Dina Geiszler at firstname.lastname@example.org or 360-452-4726 for additional information. Attached is an interest form that can be completed and returned.
